No Winter Maintenance

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the following town roads in the Town of Cochecton will have no maintenance from December 1, 2017 to April 1, 2018.  During that time there will be no Town services performed on these roads.  The closing of the roads will take effect on the date indicated or when signs are placed, signs will be removed on April 1, 2017.

COCHECTON FIRE DISTRICT NOTICE OF ANNUAL ELECTION

On Tuesday, December 12, 2017

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Election of the Cochecton Fire District will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Lake Huntington Fire House located on County Route 116, Lake Huntington, NY for the purpose of electing one (1) Commissioner, for a five (5) year term, commencing January 1, 2018 and ending December 31, 2022. All residents of the Cochecton Fire District, who have resided in the district for a period of thirty days prior to the election shall be eligible to vote.

Candidates for this office are required to file their names with the district secretary at least twenty days before the date of the election. Please hand deliver to the firehouse or mail a letter of intent to James Farrell, Secretary of the Board, Cochecton Fire District, PO Box 222, Lake Huntington, NY 12752, no later than November 22, 2017.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE EXTENSION OF AN IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York will hold a Public Hearing at the Town Hall, 74 Smales Road, Lake Huntington, Sullivan County, New York, on the 8th day of November, 2017 at 7:10 p.m. for the purpose of considering the petition of Sean Nearing for a proposed extension of the Lake Huntington Sewer District in the Hamlet of Lake Huntington, Town of Cochecton, County of Sullivan, State of New York. Copies of the petition, proposed map can be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours.  All present with be heard for or against said proposed extension, written comments must be to the Town Clerk by noon on November 8, 2017.

WHEREAS, a written petition, dated August 10, 2017, in due form containing the required signatures has been presented to and filed with the Town Board of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, New York for the proposed extension of the Lake Huntington Sewer District in the Hamlet of Lake Huntington, Town of Cochecton, County of Sullivan, State of New York, in said to be bounded and described as follows:

BEGINNING at a point within the centerline of Nearing Road at the southeast corner of Lands of Kaplan and Mariski, filed with the Sullivan County Clerk’s Office as Instrument No. 2015-3907; thence running N17°12’E 234.40 feet to a “stone on end marked 3 and 4” at the southeast corner of Lands of Jack V. Nearing, filed with the Sullivan County Clerk’s Office as L.R.L 1918, P. 201; Thence S67°57’E 181.67 feet; Thence S17°12’W 252.96 feet to a point within the centerline of Nearing Road; Thence N59°25’W 17.19 feet; Thence N63°09’W 137.05 feet to the point or place of beginning, and

WHEREAS, the improvements proposed consists of the installation of 420 feet of schedule 35 pipe, fittings and cleanouts with two loads of sand and one load of crusher run.

WHEREAS, the maximum amount proposed to be expended for the said extension, as stated in the petition is the sum of $9082; the estimated cost of hook-up fees is the sum of $1,000 and the proposed full cost of the proposed extension shall be provided by the petitioner, including allowance for the town attorney, town engineer and any other serviced deemed necessary by the Town Board or occasioned by reason of the making of the proposed extension.

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that a meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Cochecton shall be held in the Town Hall 74 Smales Road, Lake Huntington, New York of the 8th day of November, 2017 at 7:10 p.m. of that day, or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, to consider the said petition and to hear all persons interested in the subject thereof concerning the same and for such other action on the vote of said Town Board with relation to the said petition as may be required by law or proper in the premises.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the preliminary budget of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, NY for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2018 has been completed and filed in the office of Town Clerk where it is available for inspection by any interested persons during the hours of 9AM to 3PM M/T/T/F or by appointment.

FURTHER NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of said Town of Cochecton will meet and review said Preliminary Budget and hold a Public Hearing at the Cochecton Town Hall, 74 Smales Road, Lake Huntington, NY at 7:00 PM on November 8, 2017 and at such hearing those in favor of or against any item therein contained will be heard.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED 2018 BUDGET HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the proposed Budget of the COCHECTON FIRE DISTRICT, State of New York, for the year 2018, will be presented to the Board of Fire Commissioners of the COCHECTON FIRE DISTRICT, for its consideration.

A Public Hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Lake Huntington Fire House located on County Road 116, Lake Huntington, NY.  The Board of Fire Commissioners must hold a public hearing and permit any person to be heard in favor of or against the proposed budget as it is submitted, or for or against any item or items contained in the proposed budget, and hearing all persons interested in the subject concerning same.

That a copy of the proposed budget is available by contacting the Fire District Secretary at (845) 932-8444 or the Lake Huntington Fire House where it may be inspected by any interested person.

Guest speakers, Ann O’Hara of Wayne County Historical Society and Sullivan County Historian, John Conway will talk about “The Civil War; Our Towns and Heroes”. Ann will share how the communities and families were affected; before, during and after. John will cover three main links to the Civil War; the Tanning Industry; Stephen Crane and the men who fought. Admission and refreshments are free.
