TAX COLLECTION LEGAL NOTICE 2024

TOWN OF COCHECTON

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that I, Eileen Hennessy the Tax Collector of the Town of Cochecton, County of Sullivan, and the State of New York, will be collecting the 2024 Town and County Taxes in the Town of Cochecton Town Hall 74 Smales Rd, Cochecton NY 12752. Taxes will be received in my office  NEW HOURS on Tuesday 4-7, Wednesday and Thursday 2pm to 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays by  appointment. Best way to get in touch with me is by email  taxcollector@townofcochectonny.org.  If weather is bad call first 845-932-8360 X 17.  

 TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the taxes may be paid without interest on or before (postmarked) January 31st, 2024.

AFTER JANUARY 31ST, THE FOLLOWING IS A GRADUATED INTEREST SCHEDULE;

January Par –February 1%

March 2% In addition $2 penalty will be added to your bill.

Installment payments may be paid as follows (Postmarked):

January -50% due by 1/31/2024 at 0% interest. Send “Payment #1” stub with your check.

February -25% due by 2/29/2024 at 1% interest on remaining account. Send “Payment #2 stub.

March -25% due by 3/31/2024 at 2 % interest + $2.00 unpaid notice fee.

If you did not make the January payment you cannot make payments.

If installment payments are not timely postmarked, they will not be accepted.

There is a $30.00 returned check charge.

Credit Card Payments 

Credit Cards are Visa, Master Card and Discover NO E-CHECKS.  Payment Services provided by Satellite.biz. The credit carriers charge a 3% fee on each transaction. Please go to the town website for info. townofcochectonny.org

If you must change an address, or you do not own this property any more please call the assessor Lorry King at 845/932-8360, ext.12. If you need any past tax information, call the county at 845/807-0200.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that pursuant to the provisions of the law, the tax roll of the Town of Cochecton will be returned to the Sullivan County Treasurer on or before the 5th day of April 2024.

You may be eligible for senior citizen exemption on your primary residence. For more information on Veterans, Senior Citizens or STAR exemption, please contact our Assessor at 845-932-8360 x 12 before March 1. The STAR exemption only effects your school tax bill.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, NY will hold its Reorganizational meeting on January 2, 2024, at 6:30 P.M. at the Cochecton Town Hall, located at 74 Smales Road, Lake Huntington, NY.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, NY will hold all Regular Monthly Meetings at the Town Hall located at 74 Smales Road, Lake Huntington, NY. at 7:00 PM.   A work session will be held between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM.  All meetings will be held the second Wednesday of each month.

Notice of special meetings and public hearings will be posted at the Town Hall and Town website

Saturday December 2nd at 10am, lower level Cochecton Town Hall, (snow date December 3rd at 3pm.) All Cochecton Youth are invited to a milk and cookie Holiday Party! We are hoping Santa stops by! As always, free to all Cochecton Youth!
Sign ups for this event will only be on Tuesday, November 7th from 6:30pm-7:00pm at the lower level of the town hall.
If you cannot make this sign up, please contact Krissy at 8458078003 at least 24 hours prior to the sign up time to make other arrangements.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the preliminary budget of the Town of Cochecton, Sullivan County, NY for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2024, has been completed and filed in the office of Town Clerk where it is available for inspection by any interested persons during the hours of 9:30AM to 3PM M/T/T/F or by appointment.

FURTHER NOTICE is hereby given that the Town Board of said Town of Cochecton will meet and review said Preliminary Budget and hold a Public Hearing at the Cochecton Town Hall, 74 Smales Road, Lake Huntington, NY at 7 PM on November 8, 2023, and at such hearing those in favor of or against any item therein contained will be heard.

Please take notice that the Town of Cochecton Planning Board, Sullivan County, New York State
will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on October 26. 2023 at the Town Hall located at 74
Smales Road, Lake Huntington, New York for the purpose of considering the Davidson
Subdivision submitted by owners Michael & Lila Davidson. The said property is identified by
tax map number 10.-2-50.1 located on State Route 52, Lake Huntington, New York. The project
consists of dividing the present property into two equal parcels. Interested parties are invited to
attend and to give their comments.

Peace, Love, & Pumpkins- at Bethel Woods
Please join the Cochecton Youth Commission for a night of Peace, Love, and Pumpkins at Bethel Woods on Sunday, October 15th, at 6:30 pm. This is a rain or shine event.
Wind through the garden trails of Bethel Woods and marvel at thousands of unique hand-carved jack-o-lanterns and glowing pumpkin art. Delight in displays featuring Woodstock festival icons, dinosaurs, mermaids, witches, and much more!
As always, this event is free for Cochecton Youth. Cost for adults is $21.25. Please bring exact cash only to signs ups.
Please Note: This is a walk-thru event, at a little over half a mile. Rain or Shine. Please wear comfortable shoes. There is a portion of the event that has a slight incline uphill.

Join us on Saturday October 28th, at 10am for a fun day of trick or treating and other activities for Cochecton Youth. This event is for Cochecton Youth only and all Cochecton Youth must be signed up in advance to participate.

Trunks are Still Needed for our Fall Event!!

The Cochecton Youth Group is looking for volunteers in our community who would like to decorate a trunk and hand out treats during our fall event on October 28th at 10:00 AM.
This event is open to children who live in the Town of Cochecton and whom have pre-registered only; however, you do not need to have children participating to hand out goodies!
If you are interested in helping to make our event successful and would love to see our youth dressed up in their Halloween costumes please contact Heather Neidert at 845-796-6976.

Trip to Medieval Times on Saturday -11/4/23
Here ye hear ye, the Cochecton Youth will be traveling to the Castle of Lyndhurst on Saturday November 4th at 2pm. We will enjoy a four course meal for royalty that includes roasted chicken, garlic bread and sweet buttered corn (Vegetarian options are available upon request). While we dine we will be entertained by knights, squires, horses and falcons.
The castle is located at 149 Polito Ave Lyndhurst NJ 07071. The show lasts about 2 hours.
The cost for parents / guardians is $56.13. This includes tax and tip. Please bring exact cash only to sign ups.
