RE: SHORT TERM BRIDGE CLOSURE
COCHECTON DAM ROAD (CR 114)/ COCHECTON TURNPIKE (PA

PIN 980603/D264380 INTERSTATE BRIDGE #6 (BIN 1091660),
TOWN OF COCHECTON, SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY/
DAMASCUS TOWNSHIP, WAYNE COUNTY, PA
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) would like to notify you of four
upcoming short term (weekend) closures of Interstate Bridge #6 at Cochecton, which carries
Cochecton Dam Road (Sullivan County Route 114)/ Cochecton Turnpike (PA 371) over the
Delaware River connecting the Towns of Cochecton in Sullivan County and Damascus in
Wayne County, PA.
Currently the bridge is open to alternating one-way traffic controlled by a temporary traffic
signal while it is being rehabilitated. Unforeseen circumstances related to construction activities
require four short term Saturday to Sunday closures of the bridge.
Weather permitting, the first two closures are expected to begin Saturday, April 9, and
Saturday, April 16, at about 6:00 am each day. The bridge will reopen to alternating one-way
traffic around mid-day the following day, Sunday, April 10 and April 17 respectively.
A second set of similar time frame weekend closures is expected to occur later in the Spring
or Summer. Electronic message signs will alert drivers in advance of the closures, and
emergency response vehicles will still be allowed to cross the bridge while the closures are in
place. If weather or other factors delay any of the planned closures, the work will be moved to
the next suitable weekend and will follow the same general schedule.
Construction for this project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Chris Strack, Engineer in Charge, by
phone at 845-214-6888, by e-mail at christopher.strack@dot.ny.gov, or by mail at Region 9
Construction, 44 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
Please feel free to share this letter with your constituents, neighbors, or anyone else that
may have interest in this information.
Sincerely,
Pamela M. Eshbaugh, P.E.
